Clayborne Frost
As someone shaped by experiential learning, Clayborne believes that true connection with the river comes from being on it, not just observing from the shore. His passion for rafting was sparked on the Deschutes River in Oregon, where he attended a nontraditional high school centered around outdoor education. It was there that he first learned the art of reading rivers and navigating their dynamic challenges. With 8 years of boating and guiding experience, Clayborne has explored some iconic rivers including the Colorado, Green, Arkansas, Snake, Gunnison, American, and Rio Grande Rivers. He took a hiatus from rafting to explore a career in hospitality and to settle down with his wife in Ridgway, CO. Clayborne fell in love with Ridgway’s beauty, community, and unique location offering access to both the local rivers and desert. After a few years in hospitality creating memorable experiences for families, he’s now returning to his true calling in the outdoor industry. He founded Best Slope Adventure Co to bring a hospitality-like experience to outdoor excursions uncommon in the industry. In his free time, Clayborne spends time with his wife and dog, Gunny (named after the river he loves), biking the RAT trails, hiking in the San Juans, going to local festivals, and venturing to the ocean to surf when he can.
